This is the first year that LuHi has offered the AP Capstone sequence. AP Capstone is a two year program, where students take AP Seminar during their junior year, and AP Research during their senior year. For more information about the AP Capstone program, check out this blog post
from earlier this year.
Currently, 5 LuHi juniors are enrolled in LuHi's first AP Seminar course. Yesterday, they submitted the first Performance Task for their actual AP Exam - a video of an 8-10 minute group presentation. This group chose the topic of "Gun Control", and have spent weeks researching the topic and fine-tuning their presentation. Now, the students will work on their individual research papers and presentations for their second AP Exam Performance Task, due by April 30th.
The students shared that they are really enjoying the course. They believe that the skills honed in AP Seminar help them with their course work in other AP Courses, such as AP English Literature and AP US History. The students also strongly believe that AP Seminar skills - such as research, writing and time management -will benefit them when they enter college. They highly recommend this course and hope that students take advantage of it in the future.
