With over 230 alumni present on Saturday, October 12, LuHi varsity football won 28-0 against Montclair Kimberley Academy. Halftime ceremonies included the recognition of the 2019 LuHi Athletic Hall of Fame inductees, Dan Dunne ’79, and Chris Briller ’92.
Dan Dunne is a former LuHi Basketball Crusader. He earned varsity letters in baseball and basketball. Dunne went on to play basketball at Seton Hall University and professionally in Puerto Rico and Australia. After 30 years of teaching bilingual social studies in the Rochester City School District, he retired this past June.
Dan has used his basketball playing career to create a successful and eclectic coaching career. He has coached at the high school level, AAU teams, at the college level, and higher as well as internationally. Currently, he is a scout for the Harlem Globetrotters, the CBA, and the Puerto Rican Superior League.
Chris Briller is a former LuHi Baseball Crusader. Chris attended LuHi from 1986-1992 and was actively involved in athletics. During his time at LuHi, Briller was a Varsity member of the Football, Tennis, Golf, and Baseball teams. Chris went on to play baseball at New York Institute of Technology. In 2017, NYIT inducted him into the NYIT Athletic Hall of Fame. His college baseball career continued with a professional career playing for the Canton Crocodiles. Chris now uses his competitive background and will to win in his day-to-day work as CEO of the credit processing company MPX.
