LuHi's Band, Orchestra, and Choir shared beautiful performances with the LuHi community on Saturday, December 7th.
"We Need a Little Christmas". "O Come, All Ye Faithful". "Do You Hear What I Hear". "Carol of the Bells." These are just a few of the many spirited Christmas songs performed this past weekend at LuHi's Christmas concerts. This annual tradition is one of the most highly anticipated events of the season, and serves as a kick-off to Christmas for the LuHi community.
The first performances came from the middle and high school bands, led by Mr. John Rodis. In addition to full band performances, highlighted by "Selections from 'The Polar Express'" and "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year", the jazz bands also performed several pieces. Next came the middle and high school orchestras, under the direction of Dr. Kageki Nagao. A highlight of the orchestra was the combined middle and high school orchestra performances of "O Come All Ye Faithful" and "O Holy Night". The final performances of the evening came from the LuHi choirs, under the direction of Dr. Jimmy-Lee Brown. The audience was treated to songs from the Middle and High School choirs, and the evening was capped off by the LuHi Choral Performance Troupe. Fittingly, the last song of the night was "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas".
The talent, dedication, and hard work of the LuHi Performing Arts faculty and students was on full display this past weekend. You have one more opportunity to see more performances by our talented student body - at the Christmas Spectacular on Thursday, December 19th. We hope you can join us!
