LuHi Students Prepare for Puerto Rico Mission Trip
35 students and 9 chaperones will spend a week in Puerto Rico this February break as they serve the community in various ways.
On February 12, 2020, 35 LuHi juniors and seniors will embark on a mission trip to Puerto Rico. Led and guided by 9 chaperones, these students will work on various projects during their time in Puerto Rico. From construction, to painting, to odd jobs, the students will have the opportunity to bless a community that is recovering from Hurricane Maria, as well as several recent earthquakes.
During LuHi's weekly chapel service on February 11th, Vicar Adam Schoepflin spoke about the goals and purpose of the mission trip. He referenced a conversation that occurred with a local resident during last year's Puerto Rico trip, where the resident shared, "I prayed to God for help. And now, here you are!" He reminded the students that God will use them to answer people's prayers during their week of service - because God is so great that he can have student missionaries do his work. As he concluded, Vicar Schoepflin reminded students to bear Matthew 5:16 in mind: "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
Following Vicar Schoepflin's message, the entire team was commissioned and prayed over. The students look forward to sharing their experiences with the LuHi community upon their return. Be sure to check LuHi's social media accounts for periodic updates from the mission team.
