LuHi Senior Competes in LISEF for Fifth Year in a Row

Grace Cutler '20 shared her research on Communicating Hurricane Risks via Virtual Reality.
On February 5th, 2020, LuHi senior Grace Cutler competed in her 5th straight Long Island Science and Engineering Fair (LISEF) at the Crest Hollow Country Club. Grace presented her research on the topic "Effectively Communicating The Risks of Hurricanes Via Virtual Reality." As part of her research, Grace created a virtual reality simulation of a Category 3 hurricane, and researched whether or not participants in the simulation chose to evacuate or not, taking into acccount their background knowledge.

While Grace's research project was not selected to move on to the next round, her research was received enthusiastically by her three judges. They gave her great feedback on her project. According to Mr. Alex Gilbert, Grace's faculty mentor, Grace worked incredibly hard on her project leading up to the fair. She has been competing in LISEF since 8th grade, and it is been a very valuable experience. Congratulations, Grace!
