Special Events
Special events at LuHi exist successfully with the strong support of parents, alumni, and friends of the school. Through volunteer efforts, donations, and participation, these constituents are important to the success of each event. In addition to these enjoyable occasions, all members of the LuHi Family are invited to become involved in a variety of activities that support our comprehensive campaigns.

Bid-for-Kids (November)
Each fall, over 200 volunteers come together to create a spectacular evening at the Bid-for-Kids Dinner Auction. Unique themes and creative decorations transport attendees to interesting places and times where they have the opportunity to bid on over 400 exciting prize packages. From the silent auction and ticket auction to specialty raffles and the live auction, there’s something for everyone at LuHi’s biggest fundraiser of the year. Bid-for-Kids annually raises close to $150,000 for programs and enhancements that directly affect our students.
The 2019 Bid-for-Kids Auction Dinner was held on Saturday, November 16, 2019. Inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, the theme for Bid-for-Kids XXXV was Wonderland, A Mad Hatter's Ball. The Visscher Gymnasium was transformed, and all enjoyed a fabulous evening as we traveled down the rabbit hole to a wonderland of spirited bidding and loads of fun with family and friends.
*Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Bid-for-Kids Auction will be held on May 15, 2021. To honor our original date of November 14, 2020, we will be hosting a small online auction of must-have items. There will be something for everyone, near and far! We hope this will build excitement for our Spring 2021 event.

Flourish Campaign (January-March)
A long tradition of multi-year, comprehensive campaigns has enriched our educational programming and our campus environment. As Long Island Lutheran approaches its 60th Anniversary, we move forward on the path to peak performance and facilities for our students through the Flourish Campaign.
The annual campaign dinner honoring the 2020 Pro Deo et Schola Award recipient Laura Bauer was held on Friday, January 31, 2020. -
LuHi Meal Packing Event (April)
The ninth Long Island Lutheran Meal Packing Event took place on Sunday, April 7- Tuesday, April 9, 2019. We opened our doors to all churches, youth groups, community organizations, schools and businesses, families or persons who wanted to participate. We packed 273,474 food packets and hit an eight-year total of 2,781,986 meals packed. The meals packed were sent to Island Harvest and local food pantries helping our neighbors on Long Island struggling with food insecurity.
Our 10th Anniversary Meal Packing Event will be scheduled for completion as soon as it is safe to get groups of people together to do so. If you have questions about our upcoming event, contact mealpacking@luhi.org.

LuHi Open (June)
Long Island's premier golf event, the LuHi Open is among the most successful golf outings in the area. Included in the program is an excellent day of golf and fantastic food at the beautiful Brookville Country Club, Brookville. Festivities conclude with the Rev. Ed Visscher Awards Dinner where friends of the school are honored for support and involvement in activities that enrich the lives of young people. Funds raised from the LuHi Open and Awards Dinner support education programs, as well as scholarships in memory of The Reverend Ed Visscher.
The 2020 LuHi Open and Rev. Ed Visscher Award Dinner will be held on August 17. Congratulations to this year’s honorees Bishop Derek & Amy Lecakes and Rev. Micheel and Connie Luciano.
