LuHi Girls Basketball: Taylor Brown Commits to South Carolina

LuHi senior point guard Taylor Brown is headed to Columbia. Brown committed to South Carolina on Saturday, October 3, choosing the Gamecocks over her other two finalists, Tennessee and North Carolina, and becoming the first commitment in South Carolina’s 2027 class.

Brown’s recruitment drew national attention this fall. South Carolina offered her in May, just a few months after she tore her ACL. She took her visit to Columbia the weekend of September 18, and Dawn Staley and her staff came to see her at LuHi at the end of September.

A 5-foot-6 guard out of Philadelphia, Brown is one of the top point guards in the country. She is ranked 19th nationally by Rivals, 24th by 247Sports and 30th by ESPN, and is widely considered one of the best point guards in her class.

Brown describes herself as a defender first and sees her defense as what sets her apart, along with her ability to score at all three levels and get her teammates involved. That was a big part of the fit: Staley is known for valuing point guards who can disrupt at the point of attack, and Brown does exactly that.

LuHi head coach Christina Raiti believes Brown could be one of the best players ever to put on a LuHi jersey.

“Taylor deserves the world,” Raiti said. “She is the ultimate teammate and program kid, and she has grown tremendously in her three years at LuHi. I can’t wait for her to continue to lead us to be the best team in the country.”

Congratulations, Taylor! The entire LuHi community is proud of you, and we can’t wait to watch you represent the Crusaders in Columbia.
