Long Island Lutheran is committed to excellence in athletics as part of a larger commitment to excellence in education. With the help of knowledgeable and dedicated coaches and advisors, students expand their interests, develop skills, and compete in a positive and supervised setting. Our goal is to develop the Mind/Body/Spirit of our student-athletes. At LuHi, we empower student-athletes in their search for excellence in and out of the athletic realm. Athletic participation helps our students grow, learn, and enjoy themselves while they use and develop their personal, physical, and intellectual skills.
LuHi student athletes are challenged to learn discipline, determination, cooperation, and teamwork. Our teams emphasize participation at the middle school level, and skill development and inter-scholastic competition at the junior varsity and varsity levels, preparing athletes for collegiate athletics.
LuHi’s student-athletes compete at the Middle School, Junior Varsity, and Varsity Levels. Our Middle School teams participate in the LIAAIS league, and the majority of our JV and Varsity teams are a part of the Private School Athletic Association (PSAA) league. In addition to league matchups, all teams play non-league games against local private and Catholic schools. The girls and boys Varsity Basketball teams both play a nationally ranked independent schedule, and the boys are part of the National Interscholastic Basketball Conference.
