LuHi Earns Dual Reaccreditation from NYSAIS and Middle States Association

Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School (LuHi) is proud to announce that we have once again earned reaccreditation from both the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) and the Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS).

These reaccreditations are more than just formal recognitions—they affirm the strength of our mission, the quality of our academic and co-curricular programs, and our unwavering commitment to nurturing students in a Christ-centered, student-focused environment.

NYSAIS Reaccreditation

LuHi was recommended for reaccreditation by the NYSAIS Commission on Accreditation and approved by the NYSAIS Board of Trustees. NYSAIS is recognized across the country and internationally as a standard-bearer for excellence in independent school education.

“We are honored to have earned reaccreditation from NYSAIS,” said John Buck, Head of School. “This process encourages deep reflection and continuous growth. It celebrates the mission-driven work that happens every day at LuHi, through our faculty and staff, in our classrooms, on our courts and stages, and throughout our community.”

NYSAIS accreditation is the culmination of a multi-year self-study and peer review process that evaluates all areas of school life – mission and culture, governance, academic and spiritual programs, student life, faculty and staff, parent engagement, and community relationships. It verifies that LuHi’s educational program complies with all requirements of the New York State Board of Regents while meeting high standards for independent schools nationwide.

Middle States Reaccreditation

LuHi has also been granted reaccreditation by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools, a globally recognized accrediting body that promotes educational excellence through a rigorous evaluation process. Like NYSAIS, Middle States reaccreditation involves a deep institutional self-study, peer review, and long-term strategic planning.

Together, LuHi’s dual reaccreditations from NYSAIS and the Middle States Association reflect our strong foundation and our forward-looking mindset. These rigorous processes affirm our core value of excellence—not only in our current practices, but also in our vision for the future. They highlight the care and passion of our entire community: our dedicated faculty and staff, engaged students and families, and the leadership that supports and guides our mission.

At LuHi, we remain deeply committed to preparing compassionate, educated leaders who are equipped to make a meaningful impact in their communities and the world.
