As a parent, you understand how important it is for your child to receive an education that prepares them well for college and a career. You want them to attend a school where they will be challenged academically, as well as supported socially and emotionally.
At LuHi, we are committed to making an excellent education accessible to families on Long Island, New York. We recognize affordability is an important consideration for many parents, which is why we offer variable tuition.
Affording a LuHi Education
A Christian school can offer your child rigorous academics, competitive athletics, and enrichment opportunities for learning, serving, and leading, but you might be concerned about the cost of a private school education.
Tuition at LuHi is not “one-size-fits-all.”
Our variable tuition program is a means of helping as many families as possible afford the best education they can get for their children. We know this is your biggest priority, and SSS, the financial needs assessment system we use, provides a clear, impartial, and transparent process for determining your family’s financial eligibility.
Variable tuition is a range that spans from 45-75% of the full cost of a LuHi education. No family at LuHi pays the true cost of tuition thanks to the generosity of our annual donors and a robust endowment.
Our variable tuition application (through SSS) is easy to complete, and many families are (happily!) surprised to find out that our exceptional education really is affordable for them, after all.
Learn More about Variable Tuition
“
Growing up in the public school system ourselves, we were initially unsure about sending our children to private school due to high tuition costs. However, changes in the public school system led us to consider a private school education. We knew it would not be easy to manage a private school tuition, especially when we have 3 children! It almost felt like buying our house…can we afford this? Where do we have to cut down? Are we crazy? Should they just stay in public school?
It definitely has not been easy, but every time we attend a LuHi event or talk to a teacher, we know we made the right decision. Our children are happy and safe as they socialize in and out of school with their friends, and they are receiving an outstanding college-preparatory education. This goes hand in hand with the school’s philosophy of educating the youth in mind, body, and spirit.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does LuHi determine if a family is eligible for variable tuition?
LuHi partners with SSS to process variable tuition applications. SSS uses an “Estimated Family Contribution” (EFC) calculation to determine eligibility. A family’s EFC takes into account many of the factors that make up their overall financial picture. LuHi’s Variable Tuition Committee then evaluates each application fairly, consistently, and confidentially. Variable Tuition applications are reviewed after a student has been accepted.

Is there a cap on available funds?
LuHi has a generous variable tuition budget, but it’s not unlimited. As applications are reviewed on a rolling basis for the upcoming school year, families who need tuition assistance should apply as soon as possible.
Is variable tuition available for students in all grades?
Variable tuition is available for all grade levels. The availability of assistance may vary based on the entering grade level, space in a grade, number of applicants, and budgeted funds.
Could applying for variable tuition diminish the chances of my child being accepted to LuHi?
No. Admission applications and variable tuition applications are reviewed separately. Submitting an application for variable tuition has no bearing on an applicant’s admission to LuHi.
Do I have to re-apply for variable tuition each year?
No. Families who have applied for variable tuition in the past will receive the same amount deducted from their tuition year-over-year unless they submit a reconsideration request to the Financial Aid Committee.
Should every family submit an application for variable tuition?
No. Only families who feel that they may not be able to pay the top range of variable tuition should submit an application.
Does LuHi offer tuition payment plans?
Yes. One, two, four, and twelve month payment plans are available. Payments may be made by ACH Bank Debit and Credit/Debit cards (Credit cards are subject to a processing fee).
