LuHi Celebrates National Volunteer Week by Recognizing Student, Family Association, and Community Volunteers

National Volunteer Week is a time to celebrate and recognize those who selflessly give their time and energy to help others. LuHi is proud to acknowledge and thank the incredible volunteers who make a positive impact on the school community and beyond.

LuHi students are among the school’s most dedicated volunteers, offering their time to support various events and initiatives. From serving as Admissions ambassadors to helping with campus tours, open houses, and shadow days, these students play an essential role in welcoming prospective families to LuHi. Additionally, students volunteer at LuHi events such as the Bid-For-Kids Auction, Golf Outing, and more.

But it’s not just LuHi events that students volunteer for; they also take on various community service projects through their Religion classes. Whether it’s participating in mission trips, Habitat for Humanity builds, or meal packing events, LuHi students are committed to serving others and making a positive impact on the world.

LuHi’s Family Association is another group of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to support the student experience. Board members give of their time and energy to connect LuHi families, recognizing that families come from all over Long Island, Queens, Brooklyn, and several countries. The Board has made it their goal to include as many families as possible through a Zoom option for most meetings and events, including a purely social opportunity at a bowling alley last fall. The group is currently planning a family gathering this June, while also preparing for the annual Wishlist meeting, where the Board will review and approve wishes of LuHi faculty. Sprinkled in between, they’ll have a few surprises for students and are planning appreciation events for faculty and staff. The LuHi community loves the Family Association and thanks all Board members and volunteers for their hard work and dedication.

Lastly, LuHi’s community of parents, alumni, and friends also play a crucial role in supporting the school’s mission. Hundreds of volunteers give back by serving as Board and committee members or volunteering at LuHi’s auction and golf outing. They lead, plan, secure donations, and give back by joining in the fun, making LuHi a stronger school and community by their involvement. These important volunteers are truly appreciated and thanked for their contributions.

LuHi is grateful for all the volunteers who make a difference in the lives of students, families, and the broader community. National Volunteer Week provides an excellent opportunity to recognize and thank all those who generously give their time and energy to serve others.
