Building Bonds: 6th Grade Retreat Kicks Off the School Year

At LuHi, retreats are a hallmark of the student experience and one of the most unique opportunities our students enjoy throughout their time here. This year, the Class of 2032 began their LuHi journey with their very first retreat, setting the tone for the school year ahead.

Over the course of two days, our 6th graders came together for a blend of adventure, teamwork, and reflection. On the first day, students traveled to the BOCES Outdoor Education Center, where they engaged in activities designed to encourage collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership. From navigating outdoor challenges to working side by side with classmates, the day provided opportunities for students to discover one another’s strengths while building trust and confidence.

The retreat continued on campus the next day, where the focus shifted to reflection, team-building, and community. Through group activities, thoughtful conversations, and shared experiences, the 6th-grade class grew closer, laying the foundation for strong relationships that will carry them through middle school and beyond.

Retreats like these are central to the LuHi experience, helping students connect not only with each other but also with the values of community, faith, and growth that define our school. For our newest students, the 6th-grade retreat marks the beginning of many opportunities to step outside their comfort zones, support one another, and celebrate the journey ahead.

We are so excited to see how the Class of 2032 continues to grow together, building on the bonds formed during these two special days.
