Crafting Faith: STEM Students Create Wooden Crosses for LuHi Classrooms
In a unique blend of faith and craftsmanship, our STEM students have embarked on a special project: designing and creating wooden crosses to be displayed in each classroom at LuHi.
The project began with students learning essential woodworking skills as they measured, cut, sanded, and shaped their crosses. After completing the initial construction, students could personalize their crosses by choosing to stain the wood for a classic, natural look or paint it to add a touch of color and individuality. This choice of staining or painting allowed each student to bring their own creativity to the final product.
When the crosses are completed, they will be placed in classrooms across campus, serving as constant reminders of the importance of faith, resilience, and unity. The project has become an impactful journey for students as they learn the value of both skill and symbolism, blending hands-on STEM principles with LuHi’s mission of fostering a supportive and faith-driven community.
This experience has left a lasting mark on our STEM students, reminding them that their skills can serve not just practical purposes but also touch the hearts and spirits of others. We look forward to seeing these beautiful crosses hung in our classrooms, connecting each student’s unique work to the wider LuHi community in a meaningful way.
