Mrs. Laura Beckham

LuHi Role: Teacher (English Department); joined the LuHi Faculty in 2024

Education: Post Graduate in Gifted Education and Instructional Technology

What I love about my role: I love teaching English because this discipline presents the opportunity to help students learn to think critically. Writing makes us stop and document our own thoughts so that we can better understand ourselves. Reading presents us with the chance to know more about the world and to better understand all the people in it.

Hobbies: Reading, tennis, gardening

Family: Mrs. Beckham is new to Long Island, having moved here from near Atlanta, Georgia with her husband who is the rector at St Mark’s Episcopal Church in Islip. Mrs. Beckham misses her two sons and daughter-in-law, who live back in Georgia, but locally dotes on her two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels.

What I love most about LuHi: I am so glad to be in a school where all members are willing participants in this faith community.
