Growing in Faith and Friendship: 7th Grade Retreat at Camp Olmsted
The 7th grade recently returned from an amazing trip to Camp Olmsted, where the crisp mountain air and colorful fall foliage created the perfect backdrop for reflection, growth, and connection.
Throughout the retreat, students took part in a variety of collaborative challenges designed to build trust, communication, and unity. From navigating an “imaginary lava field” to working together in trivia competitions, each activity pushed students to rely on their problem-solving skills while discovering the value of supporting one another. These shared experiences not only strengthened the 7th grade’s bond as a class but also highlighted the importance of leaning on community to grow together.
Retreats are also a time to pause and reflect on God’s presence in our lives. During daily devotions, students were invited to share their “Yay God” moments – celebrations of the ways they experienced God’s work throughout the trip. For some, it was through the beauty of nature; for others, it was in small victories during the challenges. Collectively, these moments served as a powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness and provision.

By the end of the trip, the 7th grade returned not only with stronger connections to each other, but also with a renewed sense of faith. This retreat was a beautiful example of how shared experiences can strengthen community, encourage growth, and deepen trust in God.
