LuHi Fall Retreats: A Time for Reflection, Growth, and Community
LuHi’s retreat program remains a cornerstone of the school experience, providing students with the opportunity to connect with classmates, teachers, and, most importantly, their own faith journeys. This fall, the retreat program continued its tradition of fostering reflection, growth, and camaraderie.
In September, the Class of 2030 (Grade 7) embarked on a meaningful two-day retreat at Camp Olmsted in Cornwall-on-Hudson. Surrounded by nature, students reflected on their spiritual paths, built lasting friendships, and participated in activities that encouraged self-discovery and community bonding. This retreat marked the beginning of their high school journey, providing an enriching foundation for their years ahead.
The Class of 2028 (Grade 9) also spent two days together in September, this time at Camp Quinipet. Nestled near the water, the retreat gave students the chance to deepen their connections with each other while exploring themes of faith, leadership, and personal growth. The serene setting allowed for quiet reflection and meaningful discussions, making it a memorable experience for all.
In October, the Class of 2031 (Grade 6) took part in a unique one-day retreat experience. The students spent the day at the Nassau BOCES Outdoor Education Center, where they engaged in activities that promoted teamwork, problem-solving, and a deeper sense of community. The following day was spent back on campus, where the students recapped their experiences, further strengthening the bonds they had formed during their retreat.
November brought a retreat for the Class of 2027 (Grade 10), who enjoyed three days and two nights at Frost Valley. This retreat featured ropes courses, team-building exercises, and time for personal reflection, all aimed at fostering collaboration and resilience. Students faced challenges together, building trust and learning how to rely on one another.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Pastor Schoepflin ’05 and Mrs. (Anez) Tillinghast ’15 for their dedication to creating and nurturing our retreat program. Their commitment to supporting students’ spiritual journeys and building strong, faith-centered communities is deeply appreciated.
We look forward to seeing how these retreats continue to shape our students’ experiences and growth as individuals and as a school community.
