LuHi Girls Lacrosse Wins Back to Back League Championships

The Long Island Lutheran (LuHi) Girls Varsity Lacrosse team delivered a thrilling victory over The Stony Brook School in the girls lacrosse PSAA final on May 12, winning back-to-back championships in the process. The game was held at Cantiague Park in Hicksville, New York, and ended with a score of 12-11 in favor of LuHi.

The winning goal was scored by Ella O’Hara ’24, who finished the game with four goals. In addition to O’Hara’s heroics, LuHi received excellent contributions from Kate Ross ’25, Tatum Stanziale ’24, Bella Zingoni ’23 and Riley Longo ’23. Ross, a sophomore, had an incredible five goals and an assist, while Stanziale added three goals. Zingoni had three assists, and Longo contributed two assists to the team’s winning effort.

The game was a hard-fought battle from start to finish, with LuHi trailing 6-3 at halftime. However, the Crusaders refused to give up and outscored Stony Brook 9-5 in the second half to secure the victory. Scannell was proud of his team’s effort, saying, “More than anything, they just didn’t want it to be over. They wanted to keep the season going.”

With this win, LuHi secures its second consecutive PSAA title and advances to the NYSAIS quarterfinals, where they will look to continue their winning ways. Congratulations to the team on their impressive victory!
