6th Grade Retreat: Building Community from the Start
At LuHi, retreats are a hallmark of the student experience and one of our most meaningful traditions. They provide students with the opportunity to step outside of their everyday routines, strengthen relationships, and grow together as a class.
This week, our 6th graders experienced their very first LuHi retreat!
The two-day experience gave students plenty of opportunities to get to know one another and begin building the strong sense of community that will carry them through their years at LuHi. The retreat began with outdoor adventures at the BOCES Education Center, where students worked together through activities and challenges that encouraged teamwork, communication, and trust.
Back on campus, students continued the experience through reflection, team-building, and time spent together as a class. Each activity was designed to help students step outside of their comfort zones, encourage one another, and discover new ways to connect with their classmates.
For our 6th graders, this retreat was about more than just two days away from the classroom. It was the beginning of their journey together as a class and an opportunity to lay the foundation for the friendships, community, and shared experiences that will shape their years at LuHi.
We’re excited to see how this group continues to grow, support one another, and make memories together throughout their time at LuHi!
