Bob McKillop Invitational: A Weekend of High-Level Basketball at LuHi
On February 14 and 15, LuHi had the privilege of hosting the second-annual Bob McKillop Invitational—this time, right on our home campus! It was an incredible event filled with thrilling national-level matchups, unforgettable moments, and a deep appreciation for Coach Bob McKillop’s legacy.
The action on the court did not disappoint. LuHi Girls Basketball put up a strong fight against Paul VI, demonstrating their talent and determination throughout the game. The Boys Basketball Team delivered an impressive victory over Oak Hill Academy. The weekend’s most electrifying moment came on Saturday when LuHi secured a dramatic win against IMG, clinching the game in the final 20 seconds with a score of 68-65. The energy in the gym was electric, and the passion of both players and fans made for an unforgettable experience.

This event was not just about basketball; it was about honoring the legacy of Coach Bob McKillop, who played a pivotal role in shaping LuHi’s basketball program. From 1979 to 1989, McKillop served as Head Coach of the Boys Varsity Basketball Team, Director of Summer Programs, and Interim Executive Director. His leadership and vision helped build a strong foundation for LuHi Basketball. Following his time at LuHi, McKillop went on to coach at Davidson University, where he developed an elite program, mentored NBA All-Star Stephen Curry, and led the team to an NCAA tournament Elite 8 appearance. The Bob McKillop Invitational is a tribute to his lasting impact on the game and our school community.
A huge thank you to Paragon and our incredible event sponsors, Gold SN, for helping to make this event a reality. Their support ensured that this invitational was a top-tier experience for athletes, fans, and the entire LuHi family.
We are already looking forward to next year’s invitational and the continued celebration of Coach McKillop’s legacy. Until then—see you on the court!
