Exploring Long Island’s North Shore Through Environmental Science
Our AP Environmental Science students recently spent the day at The WaterFront Center in Oyster Bay, taking their learning outside the classroom and onto Long Island’s North Shore.
Students sailed aboard the historic Christeen and explored the area’s unique marine ecosystems through hands-on research and observation. The experience gave students an opportunity to apply concepts from their AP Environmental Science coursework while gaining a deeper understanding of the coastal environment right in their own backyard.
Through experiences like this, LuHi students are encouraged to engage with the world around them, ask meaningful questions, and see how what they learn in the classroom connects to real-world environmental issues.
