Full Circle: NFL Star Shamar Stephen Returns to LuHi

Stephen spent seven formative years at LuHi, beginning in sixth grade and graduating with the Class of 2009. During his time at LuHi, he made a significant impact not only within the LuHi community but also in the world of athletics. As a three-sport athlete, Stephen demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication, establishing himself as a standout competitor across multiple disciplines.
Stephen’s high-level football career began at the University of Connecticut, where he played defensive tackle for the UConn Huskies. His collegiate success paved the way for his entry into the NFL. In 2014, Stephen was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings. His perseverance and hard work quickly earned him recognition as a reliable and tenacious defensive tackle. Over the years, he became a key component of the Vikings’ defensive line, contributing significantly to the team’s success.
Now, Shamar Stephen, a Westbury native, has made the decision to return to his roots and join the esteemed Varsity Football staff at LuHi. Following one of the program’s most successful seasons to date, LuHi football has demonstrated a winning culture fostered by a dedicated coaching staff, talented athletes, and a supportive community. Coach Shamar Stephen’s addition to the staff is an elite enhancement, bringing invaluable experience and insight to the team.
From his standout career at UConn to his impactful years with the Vikings and now his return to LuHi as a football coach, Stephen’s story embodies dedication, growth, and a commitment to giving back.
