LuHi Celebrates Black History Month with Inspiring Assembly
Yesterday, LuHi gathered as a community for our annual Black History Month Assembly, a meaningful time to reflect, learn, and celebrate. This year’s assembly highlighted the rich legacy and impact of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), honoring the institutions that have played a vital role in shaping leaders, culture, and opportunity for generations.
A special thank you to Mrs. Harris (Francko ’28) for helping to coordinate this impactful event and to the many students who contributed their time and talents to make the assembly such a wonderful celebration.
Students in AP African American Studies thoughtfully researched and presented information about several HBCUs, sharing their history, traditions, and lasting influence on higher education and society. Their presentations offered our community a deeper understanding of the significance of these institutions and the opportunities they continue to provide.

The program also featured inspiring musical and dance performances that brought energy and joy to the stage. In addition, Kennedy ’26 delivered a powerful literary performance that truly moved the audience and left a lasting impression on all who attended.
We are grateful to everyone who helped make this assembly a meaningful celebration of Black history, culture, and achievement. Moments like these remind us of the importance of learning from one another and celebrating the diverse stories that shape our community.
