LuHi Hosts 2nd Annual Dr. Audrey Hebling Invitational Science Fair
LuHi proudly hosted its 2nd Annual Dr. Audrey Hebling Invitational Science Fair, continuing a growing tradition that celebrates student innovation, collaboration, and scientific exploration.
This year’s event brought together 69 students from five schools: LuHi, The Bridges Academy, Buckley Country Day School, Friends Academy, and The Green Vale School. Across these schools, students presented a total of 36 projects, ranging from individually driven research to collaborative team efforts. The diversity of topics and approaches highlighted not only the students’ curiosity but also their ability to think critically and creatively in a competitive academic setting.
Representing LuHi were 10 middle school students, four 8th graders, three 7th graders, and three 6th graders, who earned their place at the Invitational by achieving the highest scores at the 3rd Annual LuHi Middle School Science Fair the week prior. Their participation exemplified the strong academic foundation and commitment to excellence fostered within LuHi’s STEM programs.
Among the standout achievements of the day, a 7th grade student from The Green Vale School was awarded the prestigious Scientific Inspiration Award, presented to the top project across the entire fair. Notably, this student also earned the same recognition at last year’s Invitational as a 6th grader, an impressive accomplishment that reflects continued excellence and dedication to scientific inquiry.

LuHi students also made their mark in the competition, with Emma ’30 earning 1st place and Ava ’30 earning 2nd place in the 8th grade category, an outstanding reflection of their hard work and dedication.
The Invitational was created with a clear purpose: to provide students the opportunity to engage in meaningful academic competition alongside peers from other schools. More than just a competition, the event fosters collaboration, confidence, and a deeper passion for scientific discovery.
The Science Fair is held in honor of the late Dr. Audrey Hebling, a beloved former LuHi teacher known affectionately as “Doc.” Dr. Hebling’s remarkable career journey, from the fashion industry to working on NASA satellites, embodied innovation, curiosity, and lifelong learning. Her legacy continues to inspire students to explore, question, and push the boundaries of what is possible.
As the Invitational continues to grow, LuHi remains committed to creating opportunities that challenge and inspire students, carrying forward Dr. Hebling’s legacy for years to come.
