Not One, Not Two, Not Three, but FOUR!

The Long Island Lutheran Girls Varsity Lacrosse team has once again proven themselves a force to be reckoned with—capturing their fourth consecutive PSAA Championship under the leadership of Head Coach Denis Scannell. The Crusaders have built a true dynasty within the Private School world, marked by toughness, chemistry, and an unwavering commitment to togetherness.
In this year’s PSAA final, LuHi took down Stony Brook 14–7 with standout performances from Kate Ross (4 goals, 2 assists), Sophie Sorensen (2 goals, 4 assists), and goalkeeper Bella Lambert (11 saves). The win capped off a strong regular season where the Crusaders posted a 10–4 overall record, going 6–1 in league play to once again finish at the top of the PSAA standings.
With a resume that included quality non-league wins and a powerful finish to the season, the team earned the No. 5 seed in the NYSAIS tournament—a reflection of the program’s continued climb into the elite ranks of New York private school lacrosse.
Senior leader Kate Ross, who will continue her lacrosse career at LIU, reflected on what this title meant:
“When I came to LuHi three years ago, the team had already won a championship. I wanted to contribute and help continue that legacy. In last week’s championship game against Stony Brook, we truly came together and played as a Tribe. The energy was high from start to finish, and we left everything on the field. I feel incredibly blessed to have been part of a team that feels like family.”
Congratulations to Coach Scannell and the entire team on yet another championship season—we’re incredibly excited to see what the future holds!
