Bid For Kids 2021

The Bid-for-Kids Auction celebrated its 37th year, and is an event steeped in traditions formed over the years. Yet, this year, LuHi’s largest annual fundraising event was filled with many ‘firsts’. After years of an event that transformed the Visscher Gymnasium to create a themed venue for our guests, Bid for Kids 2021 made the big leap this year to an off-site venue at the Crest Hollow Country Club. The change was welcomed and guests enjoyed the celebration in a beautiful ballroom – and all on a Friday evening, another first.

During the live auction paddle raise, attendees had the special opportunity to hear from two LuHi students who shared what LuHi has meant to them. Senior Arielle Carter shared, “I have grown during my time at LuHi because I found people who I connect with on a personal level which led me to grow and learn to accept all opportunities that come before me.“ Senior Dylan Goodman emphasized, “Over the past four years I have grown emotionally, spiritually as well as academically thanks to LuHi. As graduation approaches and I get ready to receive my cap and gown, I know it may seem that my experiences here are coming to an end, but I know my LuHi journey will never end. To me, LuHi has and will forever mean family.” Attendees responded positively, and this special portion of the evening raised $28,000 to support the LuHi Fund.

Special thanks to the 200+ donors, 45 sponsors, volunteers, 264 attendees and especially Auction Co-Chairs Amy Schwing and Rosanne O’Farrell for their dedication and leadership.
