LuHi Baseball Wins 3rd Straight League Title

On Thursday, May 11, The Long Island Lutheran (LuHi) Boys Varsity Baseball team secured their third straight PSAA championship, cementing their dominance in the league. The team defeated Portledge, 14-4, in five innings at home in Brookville.

LuHi started the game with a bang, scoring nine runs in the first inning, with freshman centerfielder Matthew Garib driving in the first run of the game. Marcus Harrison had an impressive performance, finishing with three hits and four RBIs. He also pitched the first two innings, allowing no earned runs. Matthew Muzikant, who batted .300 throughout the postseason, took over and secured the win for the team. He was named playoff MVP.

Senior catcher Tommy Bressmer, who had two hits and two RBIs in the championship game, was named the league’s regular season MVP. Bressmer is committed to play at Saint Peter’s University. Coach Shaun Manning was also named PSAA Coach of the Year.

LuHi defeated Waldorf, 10-0, on Monday to advance to the final. With their 8-0 record against PSAA opponents and a 10-9 overall record, LuHi has cemented its status as the team to beat in the league.
