LuHi Crosses the 3 Million Meals Mark at Meal Packing 2023

College Board Female Diversity Award for LuHi

On March 12-14, LuHi hosted our annual meal packing event – our largest service project of the year. We partnered with our friends from Meals from the Heart, and converted our gymnasium into a high-energy meal packing assembly line!

All students, as well as teachers, volunteers, community groups, and members of local churches, had the opportunity to pack meals. As we often say at chapel, we are the hands and feet of Jesus when we serve others, and that definitely was the case during these meal packing days. Some highlights of meal packing included:

  • 163,872 meals were packed and distributed to Island Harvest, the LI Council of Churches and a number of local food pantries on Long Island.
  • Our juniors (the Class of 2024) brought us over the 3 million total meals packed mark (dating back to the first LuHi meal packing event) during their session.
  • Students packed meals, loaded boxes, and worked well together to support the goals of this event!

Check out LuHi’s social media, as well as below, for a few photos of the event!

A big THANK YOU to all you donated, volunteered, and supported the event. Planning is already in the works for next year’s meal packing event – we’ll share the dates soon!
