LuHi Open and Rev. Ed Visscher Awards Dinner

Thursday, June 16 began with a downpour, worried volunteers and concerned attendees. However, as the clouds broke and the sun came out, our spirits lifted in anticipation of a great day! Brookville Country Club welcomed our fully sold out golf event with open arms, and we are truly thankful for everyone who quickly said “yes” to our outing. We ended up with a waiting list of 20 golfers!

During dinner, two special couples were honored with the Rev. Ed Visscher Award, given to people who work to make a difference in the lives of children. Ronn and Katherine “Kitty” Hall have been members of the LuHi community for decades. Ronn started coaching basketball at LuHi in 1982, and has over 655 career victories. He continues to serve as an assistant coach for the Varsity Boys Basketball team. Kitty taught in the LuHi Social Studies department for 41 years, until her retirement in 2016

Rev. Justin and Neina Vetrano have partnered in ministry planting THE LIFE Lutheran Church and a variety of ministries including their work with LuHi. Together they serve the students at LuHi by coordinating and helping to lead various mission trips to Nicaragua, as well as directing and designing costumes for many LuHi theatre productions. Justin shared that his first time driving on to LuHi’s campus was incredibly impactful – he felt proud of this special place, and knew he wanted to be involved at LuHi.

Our golf field was sold out, our dinner room was packed, and our hearts overflowed with gratitude for the support of our students and the lives changed when they come through our school, and become compassionate and educated leaders for the future.

Thank you so much to everyone who came from near and far to be part of this glorious day.
