LuHi’s Annual Pep Rally Returns!

On Friday, October 14, LuHi middle and high school students, faculty, and staff held the first full Pep Rally since 2019 in the Visscher Gym! Pep Rally served as the culmination to our annual Fall Spirit Week, and as kickoff to our Homecoming festivities throughout the weekend.

In preparation for Pep Rally, LuHi students created banners that represented their class, co-curriculars, and athletic teams to hang in the gym. When Pep Rally began, our 6th-11th grade students sat on the bleachers while our Pep Band played and our seniors, the LuHi Class of 2023, had their grand entrance to the gym. The cheerleaders performed, as well as the varsity dance team. Fall sports teams were introduced, and seniors for each team were recognized. Our high school students chose “lords” and “ladies” for grades 9, 10, and 11, and the seniors selected the Homecoming King (Raul ’23) and Queen (Makayla ’23).

A fun highlight of Pep Rally that engaged students on all grade levels was the relay race! Students represented their grade in a variety of competitions that culminated in bobbing for apples. The faculty and staff also competed as a team, and our Head of School Mr. John Buck capped a faculty/staff victory by bobbing for the winning apple!

Pep Rally is a time-honored LuHi tradition, and we were thrilled to bring it back to the Visscher gym this year as we celebrated together as a LuHi community.
