In 2020, LuHi launched Shine, a bold five-year Strategic Plan designed to elevate programs, strengthen community, and ensure that our mission would thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Five years later, we are grateful to celebrate meaningful growth and sustained momentum. Shine has shaped our school in visible and lasting ways — through engaging education, inspired spaces, authentic storytelling and sustainable stewardship — all grounded in Christian Love, Excellence, Community, and Family.
Through the Rise.Shine. Campaign, our community rallied in extraordinary ways, investing more than $11 million toward a $15 million goal to strengthen and transform our campus.
Now, with Shine as our foundation, we launch the next chapter of our strategic vision: Shine On. Guided by the Three Horizons framework*, Shine On charts a bold and transformative course for LuHi’s future — faithfully stewarding what is essential today while advancing the long-term vision God has placed before us.
A New Space That Reflects Who We Are — And Who We’re Called to Be
At LuHi, we’ve always known that space matters. It shapes how we learn, grow, and form community — and it plays a vital role in how we live out our mission as a Christ-centered learning community every day. That’s why we’re so excited about our newly redesigned academic space — a transformation that goes far beyond aesthetics. It’s a physical expression of our belief that environment influences experience, connection, and inspiration.
Why the New Space Matters
In a recent article on Interest Time, the importance of space in ministry is explored deeply, including insights from LuHi’s own Head of School, John Buck. As he reflects there, “In ministry, we always think we can save on space so that we can devote our money and attention to other aspects of ministry. But if we want to deliver on our mission, we have to recognize that the space matters.”
This idea is at the heart of our renovation: space is not just a backdrop — it is part of the educational and spiritual life of our school. A well-designed environment invites students not only to learn but to feel inspired, connected, and cared for.
How LuHi is Shaping Future Leaders Through Faith and Learning – LCEF
What’s New and What’s Possible
Our project transformed a 30,000-square-foot classroom wing into a bright, welcoming, and versatile learning environment that includes:
The redesign honors our beautiful campus while making sure the inside reflects the heart and excellence of the LuHi community. As the article notes, after 65 years, the classroom space no longer matched “the beauty of the campus and didn’t elevate the program,” and we knew that had to change.
Now, we’ve created a space where students want to be — and where they thrive.
More Than Walls — A Place for Growth
This new space isn’t just about upgraded facilities. It’s about shaping experiences that align with our mission to nurture the whole student — spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally. When students walk through these spaces, they feel welcomed and valued; they see a physical expression of the excellence and care that defines LuHi.
Jessica Raba, Assistant Head of School | Principal, summed it up beautifully in the article: “LuHi has always been inviting as a culture, just warm and good for socializing, and now the space really lives up to that culture.”
